Loan Watch | Simper shines in St. Neots loss

Barton Rovers FC 3 – 0 St Neots Town FC

Lewis Simper picked up Man Of The Match for St. Neots Town after impressing as he and his fellow U’s loanees couldn’t prevent play-off contenders Barton Rovers running out 3-0 winners at The Premier Plus Stadium. After St. Neots Town had picked up seven points from their previous four matches since the introduction of Barry Corr and his young U’s players, St. Neots were looking to pick up their first away win since boxing day. However they couldn’t do so with a quick fire double from the visitors just after half time snatching the game from their grasp. Other loanee’s Finley Iron and Tom Dickens also played 90 minutes in the loss.

Aveley FC 3 – 1 Chelmsford City FC

Tom Knowles started and played 70 minutes in Chelmsford City’s 3-1 loss to Aveley FC in FA Trophy. After no win in three for Chelmsford, the third round of the FA trophy couldn’t come at a better time as they faced Aveley FC of the Isthmian league. However, they were shocked when The Millers pulled off a massive upset scoring in the 88th minute to ultimately win them the game, having been much the better team.

Wantage Town FC 1 – 1 Yaxley FC

Jake Battersby played his first game on loan at Yaxley FC away to Wantage Town in a 1-1 stalemate. Battersby, a versatile forward player started in an attacking central midfield role but was moved out wide into a more familiar role as the game grew on. In a game which Yaxley dominated from started to finish, it was the home side who took a shock lead in the 32nd minute, however the momentum of the game didn’t change with Yaxley continuing the pile on the pressure. Finally, they drew level five minutes into the second half however, frantic defending from the host meant they held on for only their fourth point of the season.
